STATE OF ILLINOIS ASSESSMENT WINDOWS 2017-18
PARCC March 12 - 22 Grades 3-8
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) exam, is administered to students in grades 3 through 8 in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics each spring. The assessment aligns with the Illinois Learning Standards / Common Core Standards. There are three or four mathematics tests depending on the grade level and three English Language Arts/Literacy tests ranging between 60-90 minutes each.
ISA - mid April Grade 5 and Grade 8
The Illinois Science Assessment is administered to students in grades 5 and 8 during the spring of each year. There is one test, approximately one hour in length.
DLM - April through early May - Grades 3-8 Alternate Assessment
The Dynamic Learning Maps assessment is an alternative assessment administered to students in grades 3 through 8.
ACCESS for ELLs - mid-January through mid-February Grades K-8
Administered to English language learners in grades K-8 in the areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Other nationally-normed standardized assessments
CogAT - mid-January Grade 4 and Grade 6
The Cognitive Abilities Test is administered to students in grades 4 and 6 in January. The CogAT assesses students’ abilities in reasoning and problem solving using verbal, quantitative (math), and nonverbal (spatial) symbols.
MAP - spring window is April 24 through May 11 Grades 2-8
The Northwest Evaluation Association’s (NWEA) Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) is administered to students in grades 2-8 in the fall and in the spring in the areas of reading and mathematics. These MAP assessments are not timed, and generally take about 60 minutes for reading and 60 minutes for mathematics.
